New AI World

Last week I downloaded and installed LM Studio and DeepSeek R1, the new MIT-licensed LLM, onto my Mac mini.
I feel like I did going from timeshare to my own Apple ][.
I still consider it a stochastic parrot, regenerative Al, and the death of progress and originality, but now I can poke at it and look at its insides, and use it as much as I want with no billing involved.
